impuls promotes and supports young composers not only within the framework of its academy, but also through the international impuls composition competition. Registration has started… Deadline to apply: March 31st, 2023.
Every second year, impuls awards composition commissions for ensemble to young composers who are nominated via the impuls composition competition. Subsequently, these composers are also invited to the impuls composition workshop in Vienna and Graz, where their new works are developed, discussed and finalized collectively and intensively over the course of almost a week with top ensembles such as Klangforum Wien.
In addition, the composers are of course invited to the premiere of their new pieces at the impuls Festival and the impuls Academy in Graz. Furthermore, impuls also tries to support the works and composers through recordings, PR and follow-up concerts, among other things.

The impuls Academy 2023 is welcoming composers, vocalists (working specifically in vocal ensemble line ups), as well as already existing ensembles and chamber music formations as participants this year.
Furthermore impuls also calls other artists, such as sound and multimedia artists, performers, individual musicians, actors, dancers or instrument designers, to participate in some Special Programs, that explicitly follow interdisciplinary approaches and topics.
The impuls Academy is closely interlinked with the impuls Festival, which will see its 8th edition in 2023.
